The Expansive: 250+ Episodes, 1 Book Launches

Last week, we wrapped up two packed-to-the-brim book launches for
The Expansive in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Both events were held
at The Tryst and were filled with the incredible energy and curiosity of
our audiences. If you were there – thank you for joining in!
The Expansive book is built from five years and 250+ episodes of the
podcast. It features 52 essays – for each week of the year - that dive
into a wide range of topics: business, leadership, awareness, personal
evolution, and even our shared love for dogs.
The pod has been recognised by APVA - winning Best
Entrepreneurship Podcast in 2023 and Podcast of the Year in
2024.
I launched the book alongside my podcast co-host Erik Kruger. Both
events were brilliantly hosted by Mark Sham, founder of The Tryst.
Each city brought its own vibe:
• In Cape Town, the questions were deeply emotional and vulnerable,
sparking open conversations.
• In Johannesburg, the crowd leaned into A.I, business, and strategic
thinking, with a bit of psychology mixed in.
The contrast was fascinating and reflected the different mindsets of
Cape Town and Johannesburg.
What also really stood out was the audience mix. Around half the room
in both cities had never listened to the podcast. They came purely out
of interest in the book and the themes we explore. That authenticity
was energizing!
